Knights of Columbus

Housatonic Council #40

The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut by Blessed Michael McGivney. The Knights of Columbus is open to all Catholic men over the age of 18. The Knights are known as the “strong right arm of the Catholic Church.” We have always been firmly united with the pope, the vicar of Christ. We stand with our bishops, support our priests and aid in the formation of seminarians and religious. Our order is based on 4 main principles: Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.

Our local council was established in 1887 and has been supporting the Catholic Church in New Milford since its inception and currently supports both St. Francis & Our Lady of the Lakes Churches. Our 4 main areas of involvement are: Faith, Family, Community, Life. We meet at St. Francis Church on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the month at 7:30PM.

Last year the Knights of Columbus donated over $150 million and 47 million hours of charitable service worldwide. Council #40 in New Milford donated over $40,000 to local charitable causes and 1,600 hours of service.
